The Living Room Yoga Club started in an actual living room (in Brockley, South East London), in roughly 2017 (no one quite remembers the time before yoga but we’re pretty sure it was going by then). Back then we could just about squeeze in 6 mats and me wandering about in between… fast forward to 2020 and like the rest of the yoga world we moved online and adopted a few more people along the way. With our online setup the new group expanded well beyond the bounds of SE London (and our twists expanded beyond our mats without fear of poking anyone in the eye), so we decided to embrace the zoom set up and the online club is now a regular fixture.

All yogis are welcome, from complete beginner to experienced headstander. My teaching combines Vinyasa yoga with influences from my other areas of physical practice. I aim to lead a class that helps you connect with your body in a way that is empowering and fun! We often work on inversions and arm balances but we do this from a place of playfully having a go, building up slowly with plenty of cushions & modifications and always cheering each other on, and there are always more challenging poses for those that want to explore further. We also have a resident yoga dog called Mabel. She mostly sleeps while we practice but occassionally she’ll wander onto my mat, wow everyone with her upward dog and then wander off again.

Living Room Yoga Club Tuesdays
If this sounds a bit too much on the physical side, I also lead a gentle yoga class on zoom on Tuesdays at 5:15pm-6:30pm. This class has the same emphasis of connecting with our bodies and enjoying movement, but with more simple postures and at a slightly slower pace. We also often incorporate some breathing exercises at the end of the session. For more info about this class please email me maisiewhitehead@hotmail.com
